Welcome to Environmental Science!
Environmental Science looks at the earth's ecosystems and resources. This class will look at the biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) factors of the environment and how they work together. We will also be looking at the laws that protect and affect our environment.
You are able to run your own schedule, meaning you may be on a different Unit and Lesson than the rest of your class. To make sure you are on track to finish on time you can use my Environmental Science Pacing Guide. This guide will show you when you should be finished with lessons, and when Temporary Zeroes will be entered.
Temporary Zeroes are zeroes we put into the grade book that can be replaced once you complete the assignment. They will not affect your earned score. We use them to show students that they are behind or what their final score is.

Live Lessons
Live Lessons are Thursdays 11 AM. These are an opportunity to ask me questions as they come to you! We will be discussing what's happening in Environmental Science around the world.
Live Lessons are required! Recordings of live lessons will be sent out each week. I strongly encourage you to watch these recordings if you cannot attend in person.

Portfolios
In Environmental Science our Portfolios are projects that you do to better understand what we are learning. I do not use the Portfolios assigned by Connexus, so make sure to read the introductory page and look at the different assignment.
Sometimes portfolios can seem confusing, or scary to do. So I have LiveLesson recordings to help students through their portfolio. I will post those links here as the portfolios are assigned.
If you have any questions about portfolios, please contact me as soon as possible! My contact information is at the bottom of this page.

How to raise your grade
The best way to raise your Environmental Science grade is to add to your portfolios! Because I have dropped the final, your portfolio grades make up 60% of your final grade!! To raise your grade please be sure to watch the Live Lesson recording which explains how to do each portfolio. You CAN webmail me portfolio corrections.
To see why you missed points on a portfolio simply go to your grade book (A+ icon), select Anatomy and Physiology, click on the points you earned on the portfolio. A window will open up with my comments including why you lost points and how you can get those back. Make these corrections and webmail me the corrected portfolio for points! You can also call or webmail me if you have any other questions.
You can also contact me, or meet me at In & Out office hours to talk about your grade and do some Portfolio Corrections (our time is short at In & Out).
